Taking Shape...

I am now focusing my full attention on my final model. I am happy to say I am moving along nicely with him already at this point. With my femal model done and turned in I have one less thing to worry about for this class. I already have the basic blocked in shape for most of his body at this point and will start the face soon. I plan on holding nothing back on this model and intend for him to be of the highest quality.

I have been studying some other peoples models in the industry lately and at one point was a bit intimidated by them. I have found however that the more I look at the work that they have done (which is amazing in most cases) the less intimidated I feel. I know I can achieve that level of model sooner than I was giving myself credit for. Thats what I am shooting for on this project. A cornerstone to my portfolio at this point.

I will post some progress scenes soon. Keep Running.

Another week down...

This past week we were to model a head for the class. I based mine loosely off Mr. Incredible and the Engineer from Team Fortress 2. I decided to go for more of the stylized look to actually challenge myself to do something outside of my normal style. I am happy with the way it turned out too.

I am about to start the next couple models. The first one is a generic Female model and should be nice to have in my inventory of models. The second one is the actual model for the final. His model sheet is done and I am ready to start cranking him out. I am anxious to get going on him and see him take shape.

Below is the model sheet that I will use for him.

Week 3: Updates

So, week 3 is just about wrapped up and I feel things are moving along nicely at this point. I spent most of the week finishing up my Male Model assignment and also finished my profile view for my model sheet. I managed to squeeze in modeling a low poly version of the Predator for another class, but that was good practice for this one as well.

Next up for class projects is to model a face. I'm still not sure exactly which face I'd like to do yet, Male, Female, old or young, stylized or realistic? So far my searches for head model sheets haven't been rewarding. Oh, I find some, just none I really find that I want to do and any character I can think of I can't seem to find one for. So, I may just pick the pencil back up and draw one for myself.

I'll post my updated model sheets next week once they're all scanned in. Until then, keep running.

The pieces are coming together...

It's ALIVE!!!

Well, not quite, but I do feel a bit like the good ol' Dr. Frankenstein. Having chosen to do a construct for my character to model, more specifically a Warforged. My Warforged, Viet Trok,  has decided to follow the path of that of the Paladin. He know why he was created, for war, but now that the Last War is over he is trying to find a purpose within his purpose, a calling if you will. He tries to follow the ways of the lawful good, but his youthful inexperience often get him into little bits of innocent trouble causing him to be a little less lawful than he intends.

I have begun sketching some of my initial concepts for him at this point. I am starting to form a solid idea of what he is to look like. I have also started to do a ton of research on everything from grape vines to plate armor and plenty of reference art.

Here is some of the concept art I have so far. I think with a few more sketches I can begin working on the actual model sheets. I will post some of the reference images soon. Until then, keep running.
